When authorities questioned van occupants about the toddler in Phoenix, Ariz., Saturday, no one would claim or identify her. The little girl is too young to name her parents, but officials say she clearly misses them, Phoenix's Fox 10 reported.. Now Sheriff Joe Arpaio said the illegals may have intended to sell the girl or collect ransom. He is asking the public for help to identify her family. "Our main mission right now is to try to find the parents of this 2-year-old," Arpaio said. "Was she kidnapped? Why is she here? Is the mother or parent in a drop house? Is the little girl being held hostage so they will pay the smuggling fees? We don't know." The 12 adults have been arrested and charged with human smuggling. Officials are questioning each of them about the girl. The girl has been placed into custody of child protective services until a parent can be found.
