Profile
Son of a <pst00702.htm>tailor who
<pst00650.htm>died when the boy was 12, leaving
the family in <pst00577.htm>poverty. Gerard tried
to join the <ncd06134.htm>Capuchins, but his
health prevented it He was accepted as a
<ncd02277.htm>Redemptorist <pst00815.htm>lay
brother serving his <ncd02277.htm>congregation as
<pst00618.htm>sacristan, <pst00313.htm>gardener,
<pst00572.htm>porter, <pst00369.htm>infirmarian,
and <pst00702.htm>tailor. Wonder worker.
When falsely <pst00271.htm>accused by a
<pst00268.htm>pregnant <pst00776.htm>woman of
being the <pst00277.htm>father of her
<pst00133.htm>child, he retreated to silence; she
later recanted and cleared him, and thus began
his association as patron of all aspects of
<pst00268.htm>pregnancy. Reputed to
<ncd01280.htm>bilocate and read consciences. His
last will consisted of the following small note
on the door of his <ncd01800.htm>cell: "Here the
will of God is done, as God wills, and as long as God wills."

The Most Blessed Sacrament is Christ made
visible. The poor sick person is Christ again made visible.

-Saint Gerard Majella
I see in my neighbor the Person of Jesus Christ.

-Saint Gerard Majella
Consider the shortness of time, the length of
eternity and reflect how everything here below
comes to an end and passes by. Of what use is it
to lean upon that which cannot give support?

Saint Gerard Majella
Who except God can give you peace? Has the world
ever been able to satisfy the heart?

Prayer for Unborn Life:
O GOD OF LIFE AND LOVE, You have given us the
gift to participate with You to bring new life
into the world. But, all too often, the mother's
womb, which should be a nursery of life, becomes
instead a place of it's destruction.

Help us to remove this evil and ensure respect
for all life made in Your image and likeness,
called to fulfill its promise on this earth,
and destined to find a home with you for all eternity.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord, Our God, Our Savior, and Our ALL.
Amen.

Lord, may everything we do begin with Your inspiration and continue
with Your help,
so that all our prayers and works may begin in You and by You be happily ended.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
