Dear friends and colleagues, I am writing to inform, but more importantly, I need prayer support as I walk thru what is, any parent's nightmare, a missing child/adult.
Late last night I received a call from my daughter's room mate in Miami, FL that she has not been heard from since 1:00 pm the day before. She was supposed to go to a clinic appointment. Regina will be 38 years old in April, but is a troubled individual diagnosed at an early age with various mental illnesses. I adopted her when she was six years old after she was in 11 foster homes by age six. A very sad tale of what happened to her in foster care. What is very troublesome about this situation is that she was 'communicating' via MySpacce.com with a man who invited her last week to 'meet her' in the South Miami area-- it was obvious from what her friend read in the email (last week) that this man who did not any good intentions may not have known South Fl well. There were other things in the email exchange that I have no desire to relate to anyone-- too sick and awful to repeat. I was in touch with the police, the clinic where she was supposed to show up (they will not provide any information) and this morning I will be calling Missing Person's-- they did not answer the phone last night. Mentally ill people with dual diagnosis are not a priority in our justice system-- they are considered a major burden and problem. I am very centered in God-- my faith is very strong. Nevertheless, prayer is the reason I can remain strong, focused and have the wisdom to know how to proceed. Will keep you posted as I know more. Thanks....
