Nurse Alleged Murderer

He could not walk or talk. He had cerebral palsy and epilepsy. He had regular medications, but morphine wasn't one of them. Yet, tests show that he died of a lethal dose of morphine in September 2002 while under the sole care of Joy O'Shea Woomer, a Licensed Practical Nurse, filling in for the regular nurse that supervised Brent five nights a week. Woomer was in court this week, because the court is considering whether she should be released on bail while awaiting trial, after being held since she was charged last October. According to <http://articles.lancasteronline.com/local/4/233720>Lancaster OnLine, the courtroom was "packed with about 30 of Woomer's family, friends and supporters." Patterson [the Defendant's lawyer] then directed other people in the courtroom to raise their hands if they would be willing to testify to Woomer's character. Thirty of them rose one by one, identifying themselves as family members, friends and fellow church members. Several ministers, in clerical collars, were among them.
