The House passed SB817 omnibus license plate bill which includes the Choose Life license plate. They substituted the bill, so it had to go back to the Senate, and the Senate passed it today!
The bill will now go to Governor Kaine's desk to be signed. We need YOUR HELP now more than ever. This bill was passed by the House and Senate years ago and was then vetoed by the Governor. The more support that Governor Kaine sees for the bill the more likely he will sign it. Please show him that we are committed to this cause!! Here are the three things we need you to do... **1. Most importantly, send a letter in the mail to Governor Kaine. His address is listed below, and there is a form letter at the end of the email giving suggestions on what to write. If you do not wish to write a letter in your own words, please use the one below and print it out and send it to the address. We can make a better impact if we send different letters, so please try to reword the letter the best you can. If you would like to hand write it, please feel free. This is the best way to show your support because it shows the willingness to take time to mail it, and the letters will pile up on his desk for him to see. The Governor's office will even write a letter back to you. (Make sure to sign the letter and include your address if you would like them to send one back) **2. Call Governor Kaine's office at 804-786-2211, this will be a recording where you will press 1 to go to the "comments/suggestions voice mail" for the Governor. If it is after 5:30, press 0 to leave an after hours message. Please leave a message kindly asking for his support on Senate Bill 817including the Choose Life license plate, and if you appreciate what he has done for the Commonwealth, please let him know that as well. **3. The sale of the plates has already raised $6,000,000 dollars in Florida since 2000. Please sign Senate Bill 817 including the Choose Life license plate. It will help to fund the volunteer services of many Virginian's helping the resource centers, and it will make a great impact on helping people who wish to adopt. It seems like we all know a married couple wanting to adopt that has been on a waiting list for a long time, so we will now be able to help those couples by supporting adoption without the use of state funds.
