Hi folks,
Just ran into a small mixed flock while walking back from class - they
were foraging in the small trees around the south-west (towards Barton)
side of Comstocak hall.
Two imm. "Myrtle's" Yellow-rumps, 1+ imm. Chipping Sparrow, and 1 young
looking vermivora sp. that I couldn't quite get details on (no bins!)...
I originally thought Orange-crowned based on coloration, but it was
intermediate enough betweeen Tennessee and Orange-crowned and relatively
short tailed, so Tennessee seems more reasonable. High, soft chip notes
also have me leaning towards Tennessee (though I haven't been out w/
warblers much this fall - so I could be way off!).
If anyone's passing through the area and IDs this bird, I'd appreciate
hearing about it! :)
Good birding,
-Paul
