David et al, Every spring and fall we encounter/band several chickadees with varying degrees of white in their heads. Some show strong white areas and could be described as partially leucistic while most simply present with small white spots. This is particularly noticeable right after a recent molt. Same is often true for juncos with white spots appearing in the eye ring and head.
