Hi Birders - Along the north edge of our lawn is a Bluebird house. Used some years and some not. We cleaned it out last fall late and this last Saturday, I asked my son to take a look and see if mice had taken over. He looked and out came a Flying Squirrel. He found 3 babies so closed the front of the box and left. Minutes later I watched the Mama "fly" from tree to bush to bush and into the hole. There are other boxes in other parts of the farm for Bluebirds. Does anyone have Flying Squirrels ? They are beautiful but I have read that one of their food sources is bird's eggs & nestlings. Easter Sunday , the air was full of birds calling and a number of Buffleheads on the Lake - all showing off and selecting mates.
