On Sat. Dec. 4 I saw a Yellow Warbler at Seneca Lake State Park. It was working
the area of willow trees that run along the lakeshore 100 yds west of the
picnic pavilions. There is not much cover in this area. Mostly lawn and
willows. The bird was very active, moving from tree to tree.

The bird was bright yellow below from throat to vent. Crown, back, and face
were fairly bright yellow green. There were yellow tail spots and yellow edges
to the tertials and coverts. There was no eye-line or supercillium, just a very
thin yellow eye-ring. The face was a bit paler than the crown and contrasted
weakly with the yellow throat. This was a family visit to Geneva, so I did not
have my camera.

Waterbird numbers along the north end of Seneca Lake were poor. At the chamber
of commerce building at the foot of Castle Street, the two Brant continued.
There were also two Black Scoters and 4 Bonaparte's Gulls.
