I biked to Stewart Park this afternoon to look at gulls, and made sure I arrived
before sundown this time, but found the sunshine made for extra contrast and
shadow, which wasn't necessarily helpful.  The lake was calm, but I missed
several birds which Tim Lenz, whom I met as I was leaving, saw.

Canada Goose
American Black Duck
Mallard
KING EIDER - 1 breeding plumage male seen (from dock at 4:15pm)
swimming north along east side of red lighthouse breakwater,
but not seen by me earlier or later from the swan pond vantage.
Redhead - small flock few around south end of lake briefly
Scaup, sp - 1 male with Redheads near shore of Treman Park,
scoped from Stewart Park dock after sundown
LONG-TAILED DUCK - 1 female diving near ice by southeast corner
Bufflehead - 1 female diving near ice by southeast corner
Common Goldeneye
Common Merganser
Common Loon - 1 seen by Tim Lenz
Horned Grebe - 2 seen by Tim Lenz
Red-tailed Hawk - 1 on snag opp Cascadilla boathouse when I arrived; flew northwest
PEREGRINE FALCON - 1 darkly streaked juvenile on same snag when I left
Ring-billed Gull
Iceland Gull - 1 light juvenile seen by me; 1 adult seen by Tim Lenz
Herring Gull
Great Black-backed Gull
GREAT HORNED OWL - 1 in Renwick, first I've seen this breeding season
Rock Pigeon
Carolina Wren - 1 heard by swan pond
European Starling
House Sparrow
