Last November 2nd we began Northern Saw Whet Owl Banding early and quit at
around
two the next morning after banding 17 saw-whets and garnering two foreign
recoveries
of birds banded in Ontario, Canada.

Today we had word from the lab that one of the birds we banded, an HY-M, was
recovered on 28 August 2011 near Riviere-Du-Loup, Quebec. That's a distance of
510
miles NE of here. Unfortunately the owl was found dead and we have no further
info
as yet.

We've a google map showing the banding site and recovery area for anyone
interested.
Keepin mind that bands are reported in a ten minute block so the actual point of
recovery may have been that much offset to the north and east from the point
shown.
