I took a chilly, fast walk up Salt Road in the Summer Hill SF this morning. As expected, it was quiet. Nevertheless, I managed to tally 18 Chickadees, 8 Juncoes, and 6 Red-breasted Nuthatches. As I was getting into the car, a large, dark bird flew across the road - at least a half mile away. My thoughts were either Raven or Goshawk.

On the way home, I detoured east on Elm Street Ext and ran across a flock of 64 Horned Larks dust-bathing (!) on a dirt driveway just past the main farm buildings. No buntings or longspurs.
