Hi all,

Around 6:00 this evening, I had a repeat of something that happened in my yard
within the past 2 years or so (although I can't recall what time of year it
was). I was gazing out of the window while eating an early dinner, when about a
dozen birds landing near the top of my blue spruce tree, and promptly
disappeared from view into the dense foliage. I kept watching through
binoculars and a few of them emerged part-way and started to eat snow: they
were Cedar Waxwings. But soon they all went back into the middle of the tree
near the trunk, which of course is snow-free and protected from the elements,
the perfect roost site. So rarely are we able to watch birds such as these
going to roost. Just one of those magical, serendipitous moments when I am glad
I am a bird-WATCHER!!
