Mary Jean called me 3 times today, all in the neighborhood of 5pm. First she
and Emma, our 3 year old granddaughter, saw 3 short-eared owls on Wycoff Rd
just west of Rock River Rd. Then minutes later 2 owls on Wycoff Rd just east
of Rock River Rd, followed by 1 near the intersection of Wycoff Rd and Hall Rd.

These are essentially the first sightings of the season in that area where
we've been regularly seeing them in recent years. We and several others have
checked the area numerous times over the last couple of months without any
sightings. Could there be a correlation between the arrival of winter and the
arrival of the short-ears?

Marty
