Having seen the posts about the Armitage Road PROTHONOTARY WARBLER, Marianne Ludwigsen and I pursued the bird this morning around 11. A male gave us great views, including one on a low stump in front of us. He moved across the road to the top of a sign, then to a post on another where he appeared to be eating something on the back of that sign. He went to the back of a third sign where another PROTHONOTARY joined him. They disappeared together.
The CERULEANS were in top vocal form, but we did not see any. Other birders at the spot told us that an S.U. professor had earlier pulled in with a caravan of cars. Twenty students were told there would be extra credit if they could find the PROTHONOTARY. They spotted it almost immediately, since the bird was right there beside the road. One wonders just how many got the credit. -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
