During a mid-morning walk along the East Ithaca Recreation Way (between Mitchell St & Honess lane) I had a couple of Chickadees fly across the path followed by a somewhat smaller, blue-gray bird. It perched momentarily in a shrub at the edge of the path, long enough for me to note the bright yellow throat, white belly and greenish- yellow patch on the upper back. The absence of any rufous on the throat leads me to conclude that it was a juvenile Northern Parula Warbler. This is obviously late for the season, and I'll have to check to see what the late records are.

The bird was with a small flock of Chickadees and Juncoes, and there are several feeders in the adjacent condos. Perhaps it will stay around for awhile yet. Location: just south of where the stream passes under the path, and where a gravel path leads east, uphill, into the brush and towards the playing fields.
