Much to my surprise, there was a Short-eared Owl perched on a fence post along my driveway as I headed out this noon. It sat there calmly while I took pictures from about 30m away. Eventually it dropped to the ground and remained there until I flushed it several hours later when going to look for pellets. This is well up on Snyder Hill Rd.
