The walk out the dike on Towpath Road today was nice but less productive
than last week. It didn't start until almost 12:00, so it was pretty hot
and shimmery out on the flats. Highlights were an adult American
Golden-Plover; a very buffy Red-necked Phalarope (not actually sure if it
was a fresh juvenile or an adult still transitioning out of alternate
plumage, we never saw it very close); at least 12 juvenile Stilt
Sandpipers; and two juvenile Peregrine Falcons scaring up the shorebirds.

Also, I just got an eBird alert from Jessie Barry who was up at Montezuma
with Chris and the young birders group. Looks like they went back to East
Road in the afternoon and had 12 American Golden-Plovers, a Wilson's
Phalarope, and a BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER! Guess I should have stuck around
until the evening.

Good birding,
Jay
