Late afternoon, I went trolling for owls. I, too, found a dark phase ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK in a tree top along Creamery Rd., outside of Slaterville. Then at the crest of Hart Rd., Town of Dryden, an adult NORTHERN SHRIKE was hunting in the hedgerow there, at 1630h. No owls.
