Down the east side of Cayuga Lake with Jim Tarolli. Two White-winged Scoters
were south of Mud Lock, then on to Union Springs where the ice edge is way out.
Big numbers of ducks best viewed from Parker Rd, et al, on the west side of
the lake, at least until the ice edge changes. One Ruddy Duck on the Mill
Pond. Open water just south of Union Springs. Good number of Common
Goldeneye, a Common Loon, 5-6 Horned Grebe, and the Eared Grebe at Aurora.
Mark Miller directed us inland for Snow Buntings. On Moonshine Rd south of
Poplar Ridge at the cedar trees we found many Robins and Starlings. On Dog
Corners Rd just south of Dublin Hill Rd we hit the jackpot with hundreds of
Snow Buntings, 40-50+ Lapland Longspurs (some fairly close), and ~75 Horned
Larks (~3:30 pm). At Black Rock Rd and Carpenter we found Mark's ~100 Snow
Buntings tightly queued up on the power lines. Good roost flight of Robins
happening all throughout the area - would be interesting to know where they
were all going to and how many there were. Over to Long Point Winery for
Short-eared Owls, at least 5 flying around at 4pm. A number of Rough-legged
Hawks seen throughout the day.

As it got dark I took Fritzie's suggestion and got $3.49.9 gas in Union Springs.
