Decided not to sit home on a rainy, foggy day. Went with my sons
Aidan and Sawyer first to Ed Hill Road near Freeville, NY. Thanks to some
other hardy souls standing out in the rain, we were able to see a relatively
darkly barred Snowy Owl sitting a ways out in the field. I got my scope out to
watch it for a short while. We stayed long enough to help two others locate it
when they pulled up. We then felt our way north in the fog to the Genoa, NY
area to try to see either of the two owls being reported near Indian Field and
Town Line roads. After driving and scanning for about 20 minutes, we found a
relatively lightly barred owl sitting on a snow bank less than 50 yards off the
road. We watched this one with binoculars from the dryness of the car for
about 10 minutes before heading home satisfied. Along the way home, we drove
past the Ithaca airport, but not the Snyder Road side, so we missed the owl
reported by Chris T-H.

Real fun day despite the weather.
