Hello CayugaBirders:

Northern Cardinals are singing. There are Eastern Phoebe reports form
Stroudsburg and Youngstown, PA. Big Red and Ezra are checking out their
tower.

Sure, the temperature for the next 10 days is not forecast to break 30, but
that does not stop the birds from doing their thing, and it shouldn't stop
you for signing up for Spring Field Ornithology!

The first class is in just over a month. Please help spread the word if you
haven't already.

Thank you!!

-Marc

Spring Field Ornithology is an 8-week course designed for everyone from the
complete beginner to the most avid birder. The course consists of:

· *Wednesday night lectures*, including two visits to the bird
collection of the Cornell Museum of Vertebrates and a nighttime 'owl
prowl.'

· *Saturday and Sunday field trips* to regional birding hotspots
such as Braddock Bay Bird Observatory, Derby Hill Hawk Watch, Montezuma,
Sapsucker Woods and Greensprings Preserve.

· *One overnight and one weekend trip* to Montezuma National
Wildlife Refuge and Magee Marsh, OH, respectively.

Your instructors will be Steve Kress, Vice President for Bird Conservation
for National Audubon, guest lecturers from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology
and local birding experts leading the weekly field trips. The field trips
are organized by birding levels, with instruction tailored to the interests
and abilities of each group. There is a sense of community that builds
throughout the course, and many people enjoy the trips so much that they
return to take them year after year with their friends!

Enrollment is open to the general public, ages 12 and older. *You may sign
up for just the lectures, the 8 weeks of guided field trips, just the
overnights or all course sections. *
