A few minutes ago a PURPLE SANDPIPER tried to land on the spit at Myers Point on Cayuga Lake. It circled a half dozen times as it was harried by airborn gulls, finally managed to land at the tip, but was gone a moment later. I'm not sure if it headed back out on the lake or might be hiding on one of the beaches here, but I am not seeing it at the moment. Checking the jetties at the south end of the lake might be a good idea. Nothing else of note so far this morning.
