Ken and I went out along the lake this morning, stopping at East Shore
Park, Myers Pt and Long Point.
A single BRANT and a COMMON LOON were out on the water at East Shore Park,
but we did not find any Scoters. At Myers Point, the PURPLE SANDPIPER was
still busily probing away, this time out near the end of the spit
surrounded by gulls. From the Marina, we saw 5 LONG-TAILED DUCKS,
including one bright white headed adult male that gave us good looks at its
very long tail. On Lake Road, we were surprised by a RING-NECKED PHEASANT
that scuttled from the roadside into the fields. Long Point State Park had
fairly calm water, and lots of birds. We counted 55 COMMON LOONS, and
there were probably more. At least two RED-NECKED GREBES and one
WHITE-WINGED SCOTER. And a SNOW BUNTING, all by itself, flew up and landed
on the ground at the base of a tree near us, our first of this season.

Good birding,
Diane
