Since I was in the area, I decided to take an evening stroll through Yellow
Barn State Forest, from Yellow Barn Road to Tehan Road. First bird I saw was a
Blackburnian - a propitious first bird - one of two countersinging high in the
trees. Other warblers include redstart, black-throated blue, ovenbird,
chestnut-sideds and many yellowthroats at the power cut along with many
towhees. Also heard were blue-headed vireo, rose-breasted grosbeak, common
raven, and the subwoofing wingbeats of a fleeing grouse.

Not bad for a low-expectation evening stroll (in spite of the ATV circling back
and forth along the same few trails).
