This juvenile Black-crowned Night-heron may have been in the area for a few
days. On July 5, a woman on bicycle in this area mentioned to me that she saw a
strange small heron that was brown and had its neck tucked in which was being
attacked by crows. She knew it was not a cormorant or a Great Blue Heron, but
couldn't figure out from her bird book what it was. I told her to look at
juvenile night-heron. Her description was pretty good, but at the time, I
couldn't have ruled out Green Heron juvenile.

Also wanted to mention that it appears that the Osprey nest on Myer's Hill has
been abandoned. The female incubated for a long time, but the nest has not been
attended recently.

Finally, a request: if anyone sees bats utilizing the bat boxes around Salt
Point/Myer's Hill, please let me know. Thanks!
