It's 20 degrees F, and snow is falling through the still air, heavy enough to 
hide the distant ridges from view. About on hour ago I had Fox Sparrows singing 
a short distance below my driveway and Hermit Thrushes singing over toward 
Beech Hill Road in the nature preserve.
