I always think that crows must enjoy the winter as a fun, social alternative to the summertime responsibilities of raising their nuclear families. Perhaps these community exercises are when then young check out potential mates. *Just as some people have an unshakeable, irrational faith in God, I have a dogged, non-rational faith that the peoples of this world are very slowly, messily, and painfully evolving into better human beings.
