I live in Caroline. A friend was helping me with some gardening a few days ago and she observed what appeared to be an altercation between a rose-breasted grosbeak and an indigo bunting near some lilacs. Then, we found what looks to be a dead female indigo bunting on the ground.
Any ideas about what might have been going on? Would they be competing for territory? I'm guessing the death occurred from a window strike.
