On 8/28 the first ever WHITE IBIS showed up at Knox-Marsellus Marsh and has been somewhat cooperative ever since. No report on it yet today. In addition the LAUGHING GULL, AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN and SNOWY EGRET were present most of the week, also at Knox-Marsellus. Shorebirds reported at the complex this week. ------------------------------------------------------------- GREATER YELLOWLEGS LESSER YELLOWLEGS SPOTTED SANDPIPER LEAST SANDPIPER SEMI-PALMATED PLOVER AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER BLASK-BELLIED PLOVER KILLDEER SOLITARY SANDPIPER PECTORAL SANDPIPER SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPER AMERICAN WOODCOCK WHIMBREL DUNLIN LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER STILT SANDPIPER WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER RED-NECKED PHALAROPE WILSON’S SNIPE SANDERLING BAIRD’S SANDPIPER 8/28: 2 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen at VanDyne Spoor Road. the WHITE IBIS is discovered at Knox-Marsellus Marsh. 8/30: A WHIMBREL was found at Knox-Marsellus Marsh. A SNOWY EGRET was seen at South Spring Pond. 8/31: A DICKCISSEL was heard again at East Road. Heard again on 9/1. 9/1: 10 Warbler species, an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER and 2 LEAST BITTERNS were found on Howland Island. A WILSON’S PHALAROPE and an eclipse male EURASIAN WIGEON were seen on the Wildlife Drive near the Eagle sculpture. 150 GREAT EGRETS and the SNOWY EGRET were observed roosting near Mays Point. A possible Anhinga was thought to be with them. The LAUGHING GULL, the WHITE IBIS and the AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN were all caught in one camera frame at Knox-Marsellus Marsh. 9/2: The AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN continues at Knox-Marsellus and the EURASIAN WIGEON also continues on the Wildlife Drive. Cayuga county ------------ 9/31: A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen at Fair Haven State Park. Onondaga County ------------ 8/29: 2 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen at Three Rivers WMA northe of Baldwinsville. Oswego County ------------ 8/28: A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen at Derby Hill 9/1: A GOLDEN EAGLE was seen at Derby Hill. A YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER was seen at Deer Creek Marsh south of Sandy Pond on Lake Ontario. Madison County ------------ 8/27: A SORA was seen at the Madison Street Impoundment north of Hamilton. 8/28: 8 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen at Woodman Pond north of Hamilton. 8/29: 40 AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVERS and a BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER were found at the Sky High turf farm north of Chittenango. A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was found at Mason Hill east of Hamilton. 9/1: 6 shorebird species including SANDERLING were found at the Sky High turf farm. 9/2: A BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER was seen on Ditchbank road north of Canastota.
