This afternoon I was out enjoying some solitary birding heading down
Myer's Road toward Myer's Point Park and when I came opposite the Osprey
platform on the south side of the road I encountered 4 ospreys (I think
it was 4 although I only saw three simultaneously). They were flying in
circles close to each other. It turned out one had a fish in a claw and
the others were interested. After a couple of minutes the group
dispersed a bit and the one with the fish flew to the nest. Shortly
after that another osprey joined the fisher. I thought for a while they
were going to mate but the one with the fish was more interested in eating.
At the private marina next to Myer's Point were a dozen American Coots,
a pair of hooded mergansers, a one greater scaup.
