I birded today at Hunt Country Vineyard in Hammondsport on Keuka Lake, and had
a really great experience with Eastern Meadowlarks, Bobolinks, Savannah
Sparrows, American Kestrels, and both Tree and Barn Swallows. I’ve never seen
or heard so many of the first three I mentioned, it was very cool! Bobolinks
are some of the most bizarre sounding birds, and everyone agreed they reminded
us all of r2d2. I was leading a bird walk there for a special event, and had
permission to walk out into the vineyard. The owners are very bird friendly, so
I would think they’d allow others to walk up to the field where these birds
are, with permission. What a great Migratory Bird Day!
