In my experience, “the big push” can start anywhere from the last week in February - 3rd week of March at the Montezuma Wetlands Complex. And specifically in the towns of Savannah, Tyre, Seneca Falls, and Montezuma.
Last year the peak was around March 8-11. I have some wild pictures/videos from March 8 around 8 am. The lake effect was dumping down, visibility was horrible, but I could hear geese all around me. I was also the only one there, at the old “Potato Barn” pull off along Route 31. The Muck Flats! It was a cool experience. Also, keep an eye on Middle Creek WMA (https://www.pgc.pa.gov/InformationResources/AboutUs/ContactInformation/Southeast/MiddleCreekWildlifeManagementArea/Pages/MigrationUpdate.aspx) in Lancaster PA. I think “our” geese stage there before making it north.
