I haven't heard any singing yet, but I did hear my first Hairy Woodpecker
drumroll of the year yesterday.

Subject: [cayugabirds-l] Hooting Owls and the Turning Seasons

I went to the mailbox around 7pm yesterday and was delighted to hear the
hooting of a great horned owl. And when I checked the 2nd Breeding Bird Atlas
it lists 1/22 as the date of first eggs.
It's heartening to know these birds have kick-started another Season of new
life!
P.S. am listening intently for the first titmice, chickadee and cardinal song.
I suspect some of you may have already heard some.
Stay warm!
Sar
