Thrilled to see a chimney swift  over my back yard in Union Springs, NY
5/14/25 about 10:15 a.m.Hopefully they will again nest in the tall chimney of
the girl's dorm. Saw a catbird in my English walnut tree on Mon..They always
stay up near the brushy hedgerows. Last night a deer again knocked down a
hanging feeder I forgot to bring in. They've been pests all winter & spring.
They lick my windowsill feeder area clean nearly every night. Squirrels & doves
are bad enough!    I have found that if I make a noise like the scream of a
red-tailed hawk or a rabbit trying to escape one, the squirrels willl leave the
feeders immediately & head for safety of "home."
