Notice to Mariners

Oswego Canal and Cayuga Lake – Fulton and Ithaca.       October 28, 2025

Mariners are advised of underwater inspections occurring on the Oswego Canal 
and Ithaca on the following schedule:

  *   Wednesday, October 29th – Lock O-2 in Fulton, lock chamber and 
surrounding area.
  *   Thursday, October 30th – Ithaca, western breakwater area.

The inspection areas will be marked by a dive boat and commercial diver’s flags 
while divers are in the water. Boaters must come to a full stop, use caution, 
and proceed at a "No Wake" speed, and under no circumstances exceed 5 mph.

The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 6:00 pm on Monday, 
November 3, 2025. All commercial and recreational vessel operators must plan 
their trips accordingly to ensure they exit the system by that time.

updates through the Notice to Mariners notification program by clicking
