Back in my hometown in Oswego County this weekend and as the sky darkened into night I heard a sound that I had never heard there before - the curious "pump-er-lunk" of an American Bittern. Have heard them in the morning at Montezuma but as the blackness of night surrounded us this bird continued his strange call over and over.... There's always something new in the world of birding.
