Client has deployed several HCM Modules; HR Benefits, Time& Labor, Commitment Accounting, Payroll. The system is currently on v9.0, and integrated with many other third party products in the processing environment. *General Summary* The Senior Application Specialist is primarily responsible for the support of the campus business operations. The position requires a broad application of principles, theories and concepts of enterprise software and a working knowledge of related fields. At the project task level, the specialist participates in the development of functional specifications, proactively acts upon work assignments as required, delivers on project tasks, ensures the accuracy of application systems documentation and assists in the development of end user training. - *Primary support for PeopleSoft HCM modules, focusing on Payroll* · Thorough knowledge of policies, business processes and procedures as they relate to the module and the ability to apply that knowledge to University objectives. · Analyze and trouble shoot functional and operational issues. · Ensure end-to-end business processes are documented, tested and adhered to. · Work with management to improve operational standards and procedures. - *Collaborate with campus constituents to:* · Translate functional business requirements into design criteria · Prioritize work to meet campus expectations and deadlines · Document functional specifications * * *Role Definition* This role provides direct functional leadership for the PeopleSoft Payroll modules and serves as a module lead directing the continued evolvement of the system, process, documentation and version upgrades. This role further provides support to the other HCM PeopleSoft modules through the coordination of the various integration points that culminate in an employee record that produces the end results of the Gross to Net pay check. *Responsibilities* - Collaborate with the Module Stewards as needed to develop common processes across the university campuses - Responsible for the continued functional design integrity and process documentation for the payroll module and payroll processing - Works closely with the other HCM module stakeholders to ensure seamless integration, coordination of initiatives and project tasks across the HCM module - Works with the campus HR/payroll team to ensure the production of payroll is accurate, efficient and timely - Supports the HCM Application Manager through leadership, functional expertise and project support and direction across all HCM applications. - Work collaboratively with the campus stakeholders/project managers to deliver on campus initiatives - Participates in the development of testing plans, application/unit test, integration/interface of the module are fully tested - Performs tests and reviews testing results to ensure completeness and - Provides status reports and continually develops metrics for process benchmarking and analysis of system or process issues - Escalates business process issues using data and metrics to support issues that cannot be resolved utilizing the established policy /procedures or governance model - Analyze and troubleshoot problems or issues within the PeopleSoft system in a proactive manner through analysis and trending - Lead payroll staff members, allocate and direct functional resources in support of issue resolution - Works collaboratively with Technical Lead and Development Lead to ensure timely issue resolution - Translates University and Campus functional business requirements into design criteria for PeopleSoft - Continually works to improve the performance of the assigned team through leadership and training - Serves on committees as needed - Serves as a key stakeholder in all PeopleSoft upgrades with specific focus on the payroll module and resulting process - Serve as a central escalation point for campuses in support of functional PeopleSoft transactions, process and training *Skills* - Previous payroll processing for large organizations utilizing PeopleSoft - Strong knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, standards, methods and practices related to payroll processing and payroll taxation - Strong reconciliation and audit skill - Demonstrated leadership skills in a large complex environment - Ability to prioritize tasks and requests - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Previous process and procedure documentation creation - Exceptional skills in providing quality customer service to multiple organizations within the University system - Solid interpersonal skills with ability to work well with UMass employees at various levels of the organization - Strong organizational skills - Strong Team leadership skills – ability to work with all levels of UMass employees and campus stakeholders - Strong Issue prediction and trend analysis skills *PeopleSoft Skills* - Application Fundamentals including assigned module and inter-dependencies - Through knowledge of assigned module and its interactions with other modules and applications - Application Business Process & Design for the enhancement of current and future business practices - Functional understanding of Security Administration Tools - Administration Tools - Development Tools *Qualifications * - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with emphasis in information systems. - 5-7 years experience in a business office or general Human Resource systems setting with demonstrated progressive experience in developing, enhancing and supporting HCM module applications. - 5-7 years of PeopleSoft experience is required with deep functional skills in payroll and experience with the other HCM modules. Experience with application processes, eg. PeopleTools, XML, sql/query, reports, Security. - 5-7 years experience in project life cycle phases is required; analysis and design, testing, data conversion, change management. - Recent experience supervising between 1 -4 employees - Experience in a Higher Education environment is highly preferred. * * *Starting Salary Range* Starting salary for this position will be commensurate with candidate’s experience and compensation history.
