Location: Raleigh, North Carolina Position: Senior Desktop System Administrator Work authorization: Any Rate: XX Position Type: Contract Required skills: Senior Network Engineer; Looking for a hands on Senior Desktop System Administrator that can support a site of about 100 employees. Support will include but not limited to desktop systems, server systems and network systems. Seeking a self-motivated, customer service oriented, attentive to detail team player with high multi-task abilities. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Core Competencies: Install and configure new systems, Troubleshoot & test system prior to going into production. Must be able to clearly document the environments that you support, understands business objectives and be able to make decisions on their own. Operational issues should be routine to handle. Should solve complex issues in a timely manner and patiently mentor lower skilled System Administrators. Must possess strong written and oral communication skills. Provide second level system administration support for all the desktops within RTP Office. Responsibilities includes troubleshooting and resolving user desktop applications issues, client software installations, Exchange email client configuration, Connected desktop backup and restores, printing, imaging desktop/laptops. Ability to quickly adapt to desktop business processes, interface with team members, work in a team environment and escalate issues appropriately. May be required to provide On-Call support after hours. Technical Skills Required: Must know the following Operating Systems. O Windows XP, Windows 7 Must know the following Hardware. O Dell Latitude Laptop Series and Dell Optiplex and Precision Desktop Series. Must have experience with the following desktop applications; O MS Outlook, M/S Office, Adobe r/w, Internet Explorer, M/S Access, Project and Visio O Symantec Ghost Solution Suite, Multiple Video players (i.e. MS Media player, QuickTime) FTP, McAfee VirusScan and e-Policy Orchestrator, WinZip, Connected backup/restore, VPN Client. O Provide minimal training to the end user and record and track problem resolution. Familiar with the following Hardware, Operating Systems and Applications a big Plus. O Apple Hardware (Macbook-Pro Series, Ipad) O Mac OSX 10.6 & 10.7 O Office for Mac O Remote Access tools for Mac O Linux (Any flavor) Basic Telecom Administration O Understanding Telecom architecture and VOIP technology. O Monitoring Trunks (ISDN, IP) O Troubleshooting Trunks issues with vendor coordination O Testing new circuits with coordination of vendor O Troubleshooting on PBX and desk phones O Opening a case with Avaya and follow-ups. O Avaya telephone device troubleshooting O Phone firmware upgrade O Troubleshooting and escalating Voice quality issues O Meet Me Conference account administration and troubleshooting O Changing phone features O Stats update on Telecom issues. Basic Network Administration O Basic Network troubleshooting using tools – Tracert, Ping, extended ping, extended tracert, SNMP Walk, nbtstat, netstat etc. O Understanding of site-to-site and client-to-site VPN connectivity. O IP Routes troubleshooting on L3 switches. O Understanding current LAN and WAN architecture and devices redundancy. O Troubleshooting network connectivity based on Protocol and Ports O VLAN assignment to ports O Switch health status check using snmp alerts and through console. O Replace and copy L2 and L3 switches configurations. O Troubleshooting network slowness issues with coordination of Virtela and Network team. O Sniffer Implementation and basic monitoring with help of Onsite Network Team O Coordinating with Virtela for Firewall related issues. O Provide status updates on network outages. O Liaise with various Service Provider on WAN Outages. Equivalent Experience: Minimum of 5-6 years of Desktop System Administration experience.
