*Job Title : Unix System Engineer Location : Phoenix, Arizona OR Boston, MA United States Duration : 6+ Months Required Skills:* 3+ years of Unix Server side experience Very strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrate technical skill/knowledge when troubleshooting incidents. Provide comprehensive documentation on work performed Take accountability to stay current with industry IT technologies Manage client infrastructure changes and ensure alignment with change management policy. Align with problem management policies and demonstrate ownership/responsibility and promote end-user satisfaction Educate/mentor level 1 support team Develop and maintain technical documentation on client environments Align with business policies and procedures Minimum 3 years practical experience as a Technical solution engineer Technical proficiency with system tools, technologies and processes to support client environments Sound knowledge and hands-on expertise in the following core skills set involving any combination of the following: AIX, Solaris and Linux system administration including installation, configuration, networking, server administration/management, troubleshooting, security, monitoring, tuning, capacity planning, backup/recovery, service pack/hot fix/patch install, vendor support liaison, coordination with technical staff at all levels. Scripting in C, C++, Perl, and TCL. IBM P-series with LPAR, HACMP Clustering. Configuration, monitoring, job scheduling, and capacity planning. Understanding of SAN/NAS/RAID technologies, ability to work with SAN management group and other technical staff. Sound knowledge and hands-on expertise in the core skills involving the following: AIX System Administration Skills, VIO, LDAP,GPFS… UNIX tools knowledge Working with Helpdesk Ticketing software for incident management ITIL Data Communications skills, including LAN and WAN C, C++, Perl and TZCL scripting skills SAN and NAS configuration and support Project planning and use of project & documentation tools Completion of any current vendor technology courses such as IBM, SUN. Industry technology vendor certifications will be very beneficial. Proficient in both verbal and written communications skills Exemplify a high degree of personal integrity and interpersonal skills. Willingness to commit the additional time and effort necessary during periods of heavy workload in order to meet project milestones, and implementation deadlines.
