Lead Performance engineer to analyze, design and engineer automated scripts
for Performance testing of multi-tier applications.
The candidate should have extensive experience in infrastructure,
architecture and operations support functions in a fast-paced,
time-to-market-driven environment.
Demonstrated experience in the following is strongly preferred: strategy
development for performance test (waterfall, agile, mobile etc),
performance test simulations, performance analysis, performance tuning,
and performance monitoring and/or software development in a multi-tier
environment for midrange and mainframe platforms. Tasks:
- Analyzes the design and implementation of business applications,
middleware, database, operating system, and hardware components and ensure
that all system components are designed and tuned to acceptable levels of
performance and resource utilization
- Participates in technical architecture and design discussions to
determine the most appropriate performance testing model
- Partners with the Development, Application & Infrastructure
Architecture and Technical Services teams to create test data, test scripts
and test scenarios
- Develops automated performance testing solutions using HP Performance
Center and data driven techniques
- Develops custom function/sub-routine libraries to support automated
testing solutions.
- Installs and configures monitoring tools such as Diagnostics,
SiteScope, Wily to monitor and collect performance metrics
- Develops, maintains, recommends, documents and supports tools and
backend utilities to perform automated performance testing
- Creates and presents a Performance Planning Strategy that outlines
Current Production Workload distribution, Performance Requirements and
Test/Production Environment Requirements and Performance Optimization
results
- Performs the following Communication tasks
- Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis
- Lead, facilitate and participate in various meetings
- Ensure effective communication within and outside of the project
team
- Report status to Resource Manager on a regular basis
- Assist Resource Manager in preparing and reporting statuses to Sr.
Management and other Project Stakeholders
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or Engineering or
equivalent work experience required.
- *# 1 must have: *Direct hands-on experience with performance test
simulations, performance analysis, performance tuning, performance
monitoring and/or software development in a n-tier environment
- *# 2 must have: Hands on experience building utilities for performance
testing, tracking and reporting web and web service applications. This also
includes test data preparation and data manipulation as necessary.*
- *# 3 must have: *Broad knowledge of enterprise performance management,
monitoring & testing tools such as: HP Performance Center, IBM Tivoli,
SerVista, NMON, TMON, Wily Introscope etc
- 8 – 10 years of performance testing experience in addition to
programming skills in at least one of the following: C, C++, VB, HTML,
Java, Shell scripting.
- Strong VBScript scripting experience with XML objects and SQL
statements
- Proficient with object oriented development methodology and
performance evaluation of application software.
- Analyze performance statistics (response time, throughput, network
load, etc) of production applications to confirm performance projections
and application usage trends.
- Assist with troubleshooting of system and application performance
related issues and recommend fixes.
- Strong analytical skills, ability to synthesize cross platform
performance statistics and conduct capacity planning
- Ability to distill volumes of data, analyze performance results, and
diagnose performance and capacity problems.
- Knowledge of and experience in IT environment (mainframe,
infrastructure, Web/Java)
- Excellent analytical skills in order to effectively analyze broadly
defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and
evaluation criteria to obtain the desired results.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office 2010 tool set – MS Word, MS Excel, MS
Project, MS Visio and MS PowerPoint.
- Solid teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to
communicate and persuade customers, employees, and management at all levels
and thrive in a cross-functional environment.
- Excellent oral and written communications; an ability to present (5%)
and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport,
persuades others, and gains understanding.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and work under
pressure
Preferred Skills/Qualifications
- *# 1 Preferred: Performance Test automation experience with both
front-end applications and back-end systems, experience developing your own
tools to facilitate performance testing is a major plus*
- Health Care Industry experience will be a plus.
