* POSITION SUMMARY:*
Provide technical & strategic guidance in matters relating to architecture,
design and implementation of production databases.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform
each essential duty satisfactorily.
· Works directly with Electronic Commerce and Information
Technology personnel
· Assist in modeling business requirements
· Assist/Develop/Implement any database schema/data model
· Provide technical evaluation and recommendation for all
architecture issues (data, hardware, application design, etc.)
· Interact with outside vendors to set up technology and post
implementation follow up
· Ensure application objects adhere to company and departmental
standards
· Keep DBAs apprised of project developments, assist DBAs with work
and to be a mentor to those junior in position
· Investigate, research and report about new emerging technologies
· Performs proof of concept testing for new designs that may
involve a complex set of software
· Establish and help enforce new standards
· Lead projects/initiatives/group of data architects from a
technical standpoint.
· Liaison between the development teams and the Data Architecture
team so that the applications are using best practices of database design &
SQL coding.
· May assist in all levels of supervision and may perform
management functions in the absence of the Lead or Manager. The position
will act as a Project Leader for major projects.
*QUALIFICATIONS:*
*EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE*
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following
education and/or experience:
· Bachelor's degree preferred.
· 7+ years experience in client-server database/application
development.
· 2+ years in project leadership/management.
*KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES*
· Excellent skills in business and information modeling and
development methodologies.
· Strong SQL skills.
· Solid understanding of relational & object oriented design
concepts.
· Excellent understanding of relational database performance
optimization techniques.
· Proven track record in customer satisfaction.
· Requires hands-on experience with all aspects of Oracle 10g; Data
Warehousing - design/concepts/implementation; operational data stores and
data marts; metadata concepts/strong data modeling - star schemas,
snowflakes, relational models, etc.; and business intelligence/OLAP
concepts.
· Has good understanding of the current business process.
· Informatica/Brio/Hyperion experience a plus.
· Good organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
*TRAINING / LICENSING REQUIREMENTS*
· Must pass Client Corporation’s Background Screening process prior
to beginning employment. Additionally, as a condition of employment, you
may be required to pass client-specific background check requirements or
Federal/State licensing requirements, if applicable.
