*Long term contract* *DESCRIPTION and RESPONSIBILITIES**:-* SAS is seeking up to 3 (or more) full time SAS Business Analysts to work with a large health informatics customer. Work location will be Santa Ana, CA (preferred). Alternatively, the candidates could be located in Minneapolis, MN (less preferred). The candidates will serve to augment an existing team that is using SAS for analytic research with health care data. Our customer works with millions and sometimes billions of rows of health care and health insurance data, including health plan membership, health provider data, and claims data. Analysis of the data is performed at *Primary Responsibilities: * · This position will work on supporting and validating HEDIS data that impact Measures and Star Rating in the Quality portion of the organization’s Medicare business. · Work with Medicare Risk Adjustment. · Research, analyze, review, forecast, and trend complex data – routine data reporting. · Review the analysis and interpretation of others’ work. · Oversee ad-hoc client and operational reports developed and presented by others. · Present analysis and interpretation for operational and business review and planning. · Support short and long term operational/strategic business activities through analysis. · Develop and implement effective/strategic business solutions through research and analysis of data and business processes. QUALIFICATIONS – ESSENTIAL · Bachelor degree in computer science, information science, statistics, analytics, business, finance, or economics. · *3+ years of experience overall *with a focus of using SAS for data management, analytics, and reporting. · Experience with traditional SDLC processes (requirements gathering, design, build, test, deployment, etc.). · Experience with very large data sets – millions and billions of rows of data. · Ability to examine data extracts for quality purposes prior to processing, and comparison of datasets from prior months to ensure new extracts are feasible for processing. · Foundation SAS 9.4 o Base SAS programming § Libname setup § DATA step programming. § PROC FORMAT to create special formats. § Joins with PROC SQL – including inner joins, left and right joins, and hash joins. (Used to, for example, ensure you are pulling in the correct Claims for the correct Members that ties to the correct Providers.) § PROC SORT and PROC TRANSPOSE § PROC CONTENTS and PROC PRINT for data and metadata exploration. § Descriptive analytics using PROC FREQ, PROC SUMMARY, PROC MEANS as well as perhaps limited PROC CORR, PROC TTEST or PROC ANOVA. § Writing output to flat files. § PROC EXPORT to push data to Excel Files, Microsoft Access databases. § %INCLUDE to string multiple SAS processes together. o SAS Macro programming o SAS/ACCESS to multiple data sources (ODBC) · Competence in Microsoft Office, especially strong with Excel and Access. · Strong communication; strong written and verbal skills in English. QUALIFICATIONS – PREFERRED · Experience with Medicare Risk Adjustment. · Experience with business process improvement and process flow. · Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. · Ability to work independently. · Must be able to complete work against stringent deadlines and provide necessary status and progress reporting. · Manage and track work effort against a pre-determined timeline. · Experience with the health care and health insurance industry (health plans, clinical data, claims data, enrollment, etc.) · Familiarity with HEDIS data that impact Measures and Star Rating in the Quality portion of the Medicare business. Candidates will be required to take a drug screening and criminal background check.
