*Position:** Principal R&D Engineer*
*Location: **Yorba Linda CA*
*Duration: 6 Months*
*JOB PURPOSE:*
· This person will be working on respiratory medical device
development project.
· The incumbent will perform new medical device design development
and will require strong Solidworks or Solid Modeling.
· Experience on capital equipment development.
· This position will also involve the creation of engineering
studies, protocols, and reports for the development and testing of the new
designs.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES: *
· Provide conceptual designs of new products in cooperation with a
R&D team consisting of cross-functional engineers and lab technicians.
· Produce concept design layouts, CAD models and detail drawings
using Solidworks.
· Create engineering studies, protocols, and reports for the
development and testing of new designs
· Perform tolerance stack-up analysis on critical assemblies
· Familiarity with medical devices and external standards.
· Lead product development and verification activities for capital
equipment including: translation of customer needs to product requirements,
definition of test methods and sampling plans.
*PROJECT ACTIVITIES:*
· Work in small engineering team environment collaborating on new
design development and testing
· Take ownership of design tasks assigned and communicate/resolve
problems as required
· Create complex surface models, detail and assembly drawings in
Solidworks.
· Create and perform engineering studies, protocols, and reports to
develop and test new design meets performance requirements.
*MAIN QUALIFICATIONS:*
· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 5-years
related work experience
· +3 years of Solidworks 3D Modeling
· Working knowledge of IEC 60601 standards
· Experience with design and development of medical capital
equipment.
· Hands-on experience creating 2D-drawings to drafting standards
· Strong injection molded plastic part design experience
· Able to write and develop engineering studies, protocols, test
procedures
· Strong knowledge of medical device design process
· Capable of using and company procedures and design control
· Thorough knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes and DFM
· Thorough knowledge of tolerance analysis
· Understands and can implement document and revision control
· Understands and can create multilevel Bill Of Materials
· Understands machining and injection molding best practices
· Research and Development Engineering is responsible for
developing and implementing new products through adherence to established
design control processes and good engineering and documentation practices.
· Demonstrates advanced knowledge of Engineering principles in
solving moderately complex technical problems.
· Demonstrates advanced knowledge of product design and development.
· Demonstrates advanced knowledge of best in class (i.e., phase
gate) process to take product from concept to commercialization.
· Independently tests, analyzes and solves technical problems.
· Applies advanced statistical techniques and utilizes design of
experiments.
· Establishes product requirements based on customer needs;
verifies design output meets design input.
· Works independently to create design of multiple components,
systems or devices.
· Drives the intellectual property strategy for a single product.
· Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own job family.
· Applies knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and
non-standard situations.
· Works independently with minimal guidance.
