*Title: *Teradata DBA *Location: *Lansing, MI *Duration: *12+ Months *Req Details:* *Description:* The Data Warehouse batch operations and infrastructure support sub team provides Teradata database administration, Teradata specific consulting, batch execution support, performance tuning, address cleansing, and data modeling support. *Major Responsibilities * · Coordinate/collaborate with client enterprise DBAs and other agencies. · Executes Data Warehouse batch schedules per normal, required processing (typically during normal business or can be scheduled to run unattended after regular business hours). · Provide infrastructure support services for the Teradata Data Warehouse. · Design and implement Client teradata data model. · Provide data model and performance consulting for the Business Objects front-end. · Provide PostalSoft/address cleansing support (hardware and software configuration). · Support Data Warehouse configuration management setup and improvements. · Understand and consult with various client project teams regarding the client DW System Architecture (the combination of hardware, network, application, and database together). · Advise the State of any anticipated performance problems. · Coordinate with the client application maintenance and development and the State. · Understand and communicate the impact to client DW System Architecture of: o coordinating multiple development and maintenance database regions and application versions simultaneously. o coordinating planning for region creations, refreshes, data loads, etc. as required to meet project deadlines, and ever-changing conditions and requirements. o determining when planned activities conflict or otherwise require contingency planning. · Manage client DW System Architecture to the extent required to support the development and maintenance efforts of client. · Maintain client DW System Architecture in a manner that allows the State to grow, protect, and edit child support enforcement data in a manner that is cost effective, and ensures high performance and availability. · Oversee effectiveness of the overall client DW System Architecture. · Enforce standards for application coding. · Ensure that application components are sufficiently robust to operate smoothly and without excessive maintenance effort. · Review and analyze known problem areas of the client application and make recommendations for improvement (e.g., more efficient code, index recommendations, and tuning recommendations). · Inspect client application code and make recommendations to improve commit/restart capability, modularity and maintainability, and error handling. · Participate in functional design, technical design, and code review sessions with the client application maintenance and development team and provide input as needed to those designs. · Reduce hosting costs by improving performance and reducing storage footprint. · When needed to resolve Production issues, to implement Production releases (typically 4 per year plus 15 to 20 Emergency Releases), or to provide planned maintenance (typically one weekend per month), provide support after normal business hours (i.e., nights, weekends, and holidays) and participate in a 24 x 7 on-call rotation. · 5 years experience in large-scale systems development and/or maintenance in a technical environment similar in size, scope, and complexity to client. · 5 years experience with structured development methodology. · 5 years system architecture experience · Strong understanding and hands on experience with Oracle Golden Gate · Strong understanding of the SEI Capability Maturity Model and experience implementing CMM Level 3. · Certified Systems Security Professional (CISSP) preferred. · Teradata certification. · 5 years technical experience in: o RDBMS o Oracle SQL o Oracle PL/SQL o Oracle Database o Oracle Forms o Oracle Stored Procedures and Packages o Oracle gateway for Teradata o Data modeling and entity relationship management o Unix administration o Enterprise system management o System redundancy and failover strategies o High-availability strategies o Window 2000/2003 server o Pragma o PostalSoft (Data Quality XI) o Business Objects (Designer and WEBI) o Teradata Data Warehouse Architecture o TeraData SQL o Teradata Performance Tuning and Analysis o Teradata Data Warehouse development strategies (bteq, procedure, macros) o C o Cobol o Visual Basic o UNIX expertise (scripting (shell and awk), command line, cron) for use in the AIX, Tru64, Solaris and NCR Unix
