Must face to face after phone screen, no skype! * *Position: Java Developer* Client: Vertex Location: Berwyn, PA Duration: 6+ month contract *This is senior level contract position for a Java Software Developer who has the ability to create code from scratch. * This individual must be capable of performing analysis, design, implementation, testing, maintenance and support tasks with minimal supervision. This position requires interaction with other group members and departments, and as such, requires excellent communication skills. This position requires the ability to work independently, as well as in collaboration with others to implement solutions *ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES / PERCENT OF WORKING TIME:* - Implement, test, maintain and support software, based on technical design specifications - 45% - Prepare technical design specifications based on functional requirements and analysis documents - 15% - Review functional requirements, analysis and design documents and provide feedback - 10% - Assist customer support with technical problems and questions - 10% - Assist other development staff - 5% - Investigate software development tools - 5% - Perform special assignments - 5% - Participate in architecture and code reviews - 5% *KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:* - Minimum of five to seven years experience in software engineering - Very strong object-oriented analysis and design skills - Proficiency in an object-oriented programming language, preferably Java - Experience implementing n-tiered, distributed systems across different Hardware/Operating System platforms - Experience with iterative, incremental software development processes - Experience with complex software development projects through all phases of the software development life cycle - Familiarity with web-based application development technologies is required. - Experience with Web Services design and construction - Experience with application frameworks such as Spring - Experience with persistence frameworks such as iBatis/myBatis - Understanding of database design and software to database interface programming - Relational database experience with one or more of the following: Oracle, DB2, MS SQL Server is required - Strong SQL skills - Experience with Java performance analysis and tuning is desired - Familiarity with the Unified Modeling language (UML) - Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills - Ability to quickly analyze, organize, and abstract large amounts of information and to make decisions based on this analysis - Awareness of business issues as they impact overall project plans - Ability to influence and negotiate when faced with opposing views or resistance *EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:* - B.S. in Computer Science or Software Engineering. or equivalent experience. *Note: We are through tier-1 vendor*.
