*Job Title* Senior Business Data Analyst *Project Location* Washington DC *Duration* 6 months /Contract * Skills Required and Job Description:* *Moi = Telephonic + Face 2 Face* • strong background in data analysis as well as requirements analysis/functional requirements documentation. • experience working with very large data sets and familiarity with statistics and trend analysis. • experience with sdlc and producing formal requirements documents, cm, sql, defect tracking tools, etc. • ability to collaborate with end users for requirements discovery, ability to formulate hypotheses. • experience using sql to query and extract data to conduct data research in order to prove/disprove hypotheses and build proof of concept. project related competencies: • quickly understands the business issues and data challenges of client's organization and industry. • reviews and edits functional requirements specifications, functional processes and recommendations related to proposed solution. • employs problem-solving, statistical and root-cause analysis techniques to assist with issue resolution. • takes input from supervisor and or project managers and appropriately and accurately applies comments/feedback. • communicates and applies project standards. effectively manages changes to baselines requirements in support of specific software releases • is proficient in the total system development life-cycle (sdlc) and agile project methodology. • consistently delivers high-quality services to clients. core related competencies: • understands how to communicate complex information clearly. • deep understanding of the business problem each pattern is try to detect or solve and an ability to verbally explain it to any number of development and qc staff. • ability to verbally translate various data conditions into business language for users to clearly understand. • experience in sql in support of functional analysis and issue resolution. • attention to detail and consistency is extremely important. required qualifications: • bachelor's degree or higher; degree in computer science, business or information systems, or related work experience preferred. • minimum of six (6) years' experience in business/systems analysis. • data analysis in a large/big data environment. • excellent sql working knowledge • experience in the financial regulatory domain, specifically within securities, trading systems and/or regulatory domain preferred. • proficient at technical business writing, including business requirement documents, functional requirement specifications, workflows, use-cases and other software documentation methodologies. • excellent written and oral communication skills. • demonstrates a proven track record of delivering quality business solutions and specifications. • skilled utilizing the microsoft office suite of products, including word, excel, visio and project.
