Hi everybody after a very tiring weeks of events and conference for our first CC Ara world tour, I'd like to thank all the people that made possible to have CC events almost simoultaneosly in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and at IGF in Egypt. Thanks to everybody who organised, participated, attended all these meetings and made possible for Joi and all of us feeling at home
I'm looking forward to the next steps in the Arab world which would be great to discuss in this list too Just would like to highlight two things that might be interesting also for the Arab community: - CC birthday which is on the 17th of dec. many countries all over the world are self organising parties of different genres. You can have a look here http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Salon and let me know if you are interested to do something - A CC BY SA released documentary on Gaza named "To shoot an elephant" (we posted about it here http://creativecommons.org/weblog/entry/19263 ) is organising a global simultaneous screening all over the world on 18th of January for the "anniversary" of Gaza invasion. Till now, 35 cities in the world are showing the film simultaneosly on 18th january. I'm in touch with Alberto Arce, one of the directors, who would be very happy to see the film screened in the Arab world. The film is 80% spoken in Arabic and for the rest it is spoken in English with Arabic subtitles. Please let me know if you would be interested to screen it in your town, at universities, film clubs or any other place. I can put you in touch with Alberto and he can send the dvds to the people interested to organise the screening. In Syria we are trying to do this with the help of the Syrian community, it would be great to see more Arab countries joining! Again, thanks to everybody who contributed to this Arab world "CC tour".
