I felt it would be useful to share this info with you
Global Voices is starting to publish on a very well known and
important Italian daily news a selection of 25 blogs from all over the
world (including the Arab world) under Creative Commons licenses.
It`s a very interesting operation done by GV and La Stampa which will
result in a more balanced coverage of regions like the Arab world
which dont have so many opportunities to be featured on big mainstream
press in Europe unless there are conflict driven breaking news.

ITALIAN NEWSPAPER LA STAMPA LAUNCHES VOCI GLOBALI, A NEW WEB FEATURE
HIGHLIGHTING THE
BEST OF THE GLOBAL BLOGOSPHERE
La Stampa is pleased to announce the launch of Voci Globali (http://
www.lastampa.it/vociglobali): a new web feature, in
partnership with Global Voices Online (http://globalvoicesonline.org),
that will translate and feature independent citizen
voices from online media around the world — making them accessible to
an Italian audience and expanding the global
conversation on current events.
Initially twenty-five blogs from all world regions have been selected
as the primary sources — including, Afghan Women's
Writing Project, Repeating Islands, Registan, Talk Morocco, Ethan
Zuckerman and Rebecca McKinnon — providing a
different perspective on world news, human rights, development issues,
and much more, through the eyes of those who live
it.
Voci Globali's virtual newsroom will be coordinated by Italian
journalist and translator Bernardo Parrella from the United
States. Translations from blogs and citizen media in multiple
languages will be featured daily. The stories will be open to
readers' comments, and are additionally available for any non-profit
or commercial media to republish freely thanks to
Creative Commons licensing.
Voci Globali follows other innovations in blogging by La Stampa,
including the translation and republication of Cuban blog,
Generación Y by award-winning blogger Yoani Sanchez (http://
www.lastampa.it/generaciony), and embraces the Global
Voice Online model in sharing stories that might otherwise go unheard
by a global audience.
This new partnership project underlines today's potential and need for
quality journalism based on collaborations between
mainstream media and citizen journalists.
