marhaba everything today the first two Creative Commons Iftar of 2011 are taking place in Beirut and Doha simultaneously local Iftar time CC Iftar is a project that was born last year, from a discussion we started in this very list, and lots of enthusiasm we got from the community all across the Arab world. Last year we had Cairo, Amman, Damascus and Dubai organizing each one a thematic iftar. We had a website and a webcompetition and a regional sponsorship for all the 4 events kindly provided by Aramex This Ramadan things are slightly different and for many different reasons. CCIftar is still happening but we wont have a big regional coordinated event. We put a lot of efforts and energies to make the regional meeting possible, and this was just simply too close to Ramadan. Plus, this Ramadan is very different from the past one since many countries and cities are busy with bigger issues, and are experiencing violence and unrest. But the nice side of these CC iftars this year is that the community has totally self organized itself, finding the location, a local sponsor for the catering, designing the invites etc. Plus, the community has worked on a collective regional video project which I hope that somebody from the Lebanon or Qatar team tomorrow could hopefully post online so everybody can watch it Also, please post pictures and anything you will produce during the iftar!
